" I am shocked that in a civilised country we allow such barbaric practices. Rodeo may be an American pasttime but I think that the inherent cruelty suffered by animals in rodeos has finally come to the forefront and now people must acknowledge that this is downright cruelty to God's creatures. As a Christian I am shocked at such cruelty to His creation. Its time we take the blinders off and realise that we can no longer turn a blind eye to rodeos. "

" People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are now protesting against 'cruelty toward cockroaches.' Steve Hindi of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) is protesting against rodeos. These folks obviously don't have a grip on reality and are not taking their meds. Would not working in a soup kitchen be more productive and rewarding?

" Clearly these horses were stalling in the chute which is the only provision where a 'hot shot' CAN be used as per most association rules.
Not to mention that a cattle prod puts out typically 5,000-6,000 volts, while a police taser puts out 11,000-50,000 volts. On top of that, the hide of a horse is 3 times thicker than human skin. A bulls hide is seven times thicker.
Animal rights groups first tried to use the flank strap as proof of cruelty and when that failed (although the misconception still exsists) they have moved on to the 'hot shot' with more success.
Just a note, even Hindi doesn't use the flank arguement except with hard core Animal Liberationists.
Case in point- I've adovcated the use of a 'rattler' which mimics the noise of a hotshot but doesn't deliver any electricity to the animal (effective on horses not on bulls) instead - this would seem to solve the cruelty arguement, wouldn't it?
Not to a animal activists - they want rodeo GONE as well as all use of animals by humans - don't beleive me - look it up! "
