The parents have stepped in where they do not belong. There are bad people in all jobs, but most are trying to do their job right and teach the children respect for others. Was it really his wiener dog that meant that much to him or was he trying to get by with something? I'm sorry for children that need the attention so much, that they will go to any links to get it. Evidently he's lacking attention else where. This might seem like a minor thing, but if we keep letting our children by with all the little minor things they will grow up in this world thinking they can get by with anything. If you don't believe it, read the story about the Cavaletto lady that was murdered at random by a 27 year old boy that had no motive and showed no remorse. Be careful parents, be very careful, you may be reading about your child in a much bigger situation. Let the teachers do their jobs and be very thankful for them. Sometimes a teacher is all a student has for guidance. "

We hope it is the children slamming people and not the adults. We all agree if we new it were our children we would give them an old fashioned schooling at home. If its the adults it is like a lot of you have said God help us all. WE can see were Dave may get his attitude from all the things you have called him and his father on here. We all believe that a little work on manners need to come into play. maybe we should all work on a little human kindness and this wonderful country we live in would be a nicer place. we applaud both sides for there fine input, the slammers ,well we just wont go there.Good luck to both sides we think your both smart enough to bring this to an end . Thank you for listening to us. "

We know they would enjoy an evening of stories and BS on the porch or by the campfire we all do. Keep being youself and we hope this nightmare ends soon. WE will always be there for you,you have always been there for us. "

This does not deserve news coverage, no way in heck should there be a lawsuit. Outside of the school suing the family for just being plain stupid.
This is what our world has come to. They are not adults so free speech does not apply to anyone under the age of 18.
Who cares what the lawyer says, he sees more free money over stupidity. If anything the family should be fined. "

" There is something really wrong here. Basically a kid did not get his way and you are writing a story about it?? You should do a story about the lack of funding for schools in Southern Illinois, or No Child Left Behind. I work in the school system and this story is a complete waste of time, I am very dissappoinated in the paper. "

" The policy says it all-the school authorities have the final call. Don't like it? Tough. Kids don't rule-adults do. Unfortunately, many have seemed to have lost sight of that. This is even more petty and childish than the parents in Harrisburg who tried to sue because their daughters couldn't play softball. I can't believe it made the paper. Oh, and I'm in favor of school uniforms-maybe this kid would prefer to wear one of those instead. "

Secondly, obviously the apple doesn't fall far from the nut tree. Lastly, Schroeder needs to stick to his job of warping the minds of future attorneys. To quote Mr.Schroeder "It's not fair", come on, gimme me break. "

" J Palmer Rea I am sorry that we all cant be perfect little students like you. I also know David and I dont agree with everything he does. You are trying to make him out as a total terror and that he is not.Sure he rocks the boat at times but he is a free thinker and I admirer him for that, he is not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right. Most of us just take what the system dishes out. We are liked trained monkeys we just do as were told, it doesnt matter if we think its right or wrong we just do what were told. sSo with that said keep rockin the boat David, dont become a slave to the system like the rest of us drones. " Am I really reading that a family is thinking about suing the school over this? Is this for real? Wow. Talk about frivolous. Either that or there is more to this story. You know, sometimes life isn't fair. It's a good lesson to learn and most of us did learn it in high school. But to sue over it? There are mountains and there are mole hills, and this is the latter.
