" dud's comment on 2/20/08 regarding lawmakers clocking in and out would save on payroll. I cannot speak for others but I can tell you this and that is Mike Bost is one of the most common down to earth political official I have known. If this man clocked in for the hours he puts in for the people in S.I. he would never clock out. Do you think he stops working when not in Springfield? His job is like a wife and mother, there's no clocking in or out for you're always on the job. "

" Both of the legislators failed to mention that SIU will be cut 3%--Somewhere around $6,000,000 will be stripped from the economy of Southern Illinois. How many businesses will go under? How many ex employees will leave the area. Ever since our current governor took office, he has systematically taken state dollars out of the area, while adding to the dollars going into Chicago-Example the CTA bailout. And by the way-We may have to pay to get into our own state parks. But I should not be surprised, Giant City and Garden of the Gods are not in Chicago. "

" How about pay lawmakers just for time worked. If they had to clock in and out like the common folk we would either get a lot more done or save on payroll expense. If we are down to bare bones as FORBY said why did he accept his pay raise?????? I didnt hear any lawmakers turning the raise down to help the people of Illinois save money. "

" Anyone who would say that there is no way to reduce state spending is just not being honest or doesn't understand how business works. I hope that someday we all have the guts to elect people to office who are willing to make the hard decisions that will balance the budget and reduce the deficit. And, NO, tax increases are not the answer. "
