Trial set for Jonesboro double-murder suspect

JONESBORO -- Robert Pitts Jr., 23, will go to trial on March 24 on charges he allegedly shot and killed his parents just days before Christmas in 2006.

Pitts Jr. was indicted in January on charges that he shot Robert Pitts Sr. and Marcia Pitts — his mother and father — in the head on Dec. 21, 2006.

Allen James, Union County State’s Attorney, said that Robert Pitts Jr. appeared in court Wednesday afternoon and received his trial date and a corresponding final pretrial date of March 12 at 9 a.m.
