" Any Democrat elected to the office of President will bring FutureGen to Illinois. Both Senator Clinton and Obama have strong Illinois ties and will help the state. Like President Carter, who was the first to promote energy self sufficency through a comprehensive energy policy, both Democratic candidates will be committed to an energy policy that will help the USA reduce its dependency on foreign oil. Clinton and Oboma, unlike the Republicans who take large donations from oil corporations and and give big oil priority, will put national interest and individual needs ahead of Bush and Chaney's oil buddies. " Correction: Obama is not from Illinois. He is from Hawaii. His mother is from Kansas and his father is from Kenya. He spent several of his frmative years in Jakarat, Indonesia. He studied in Muslim Madrassas (Islamic Schools). He was "sent" to Cook County to establish his liberal political credentials after graduating from Harvard Law. He is the liberal version of the Manchrurian Candidate. Obama knows about as much about Illinois (outside of Chicago) that Southern Illinoisan's do about Hawaii or Indonesia. Barak Obama is not an Illinoisan. He is a "made man" who only used Chicago as his springboard onto the international stage. "

" No matter the puffing from Sen. Durbin, the 'cluster farce' of Illinois-style politics, coupled with the ‘Religion of Green” will talk and litigate this subject to death. In fact, if I were an environmental nut hatch, I would complain to The Southern about wasting good paper (which comes from trees) on what is for drawn conclusion and thus a non-story. "

" Neither Obama nor Clinton will revive FurtureGen. It's only wishful thinking. Environmental extremists have too much influence on them. Unless it involves solar, wind, or some other kind of made up "green" energy, neither candidate will touch it. Clinton keeps on mentioning "clean coal technology". Whatever. Her husband destroyed the coal industry with his so called clean air act. Why would she be any different? And Obama acts like coal is the plague or something. Just because he is from Illinois certainly does not mean he would revive FutureGen. Again, it would only be wishful thinking. "

" You can be sure of one thing it will NOT be Obama or Clinton to help bring FutureGen to Illinois. Check Obama's record, what has he done for Illinois? People you must understand Barack Obama voted against Prairie State Campus (mine-mouth power plant) at Lively Grove Illinois EVERYTIME it came to vote in Washington DC. He would first consult with Senator Clinton then voted with her against building this modern, 100% pollution free power plant that will use our coal reserves in Southern Illinois. At last count it came to vote 3 times. It has taken Peabody Coal FIVE years to get past all hurdles but ground breaking was last Oct. It will employ approx 2,400 in construction and 250+ permanently. Barak Obama was more worried about good standing with Senator Clinton than the unemployed people of Illinois! "
