" To "Just the Facts" Thanks, and sophomoric was kinda the intended point. As for the "facts", if you let the illusion of an "against" vote in a public meeting forum that had no chance of passing anyway fool you, then you are either gullible – or you have no idea of the true nature of “Clod Godman’s” character. You see, in “Clod’s” world he still has aspirations for bigger political power than just school board, and while he would never let his big buddy “Wide Fudgens” loose a vote on any issue – he also would not pass up an opportunity to dupe the naïve people of fair “Smellville” by appearing to have sympathy for their cause. Remember, “Wide’s” little buddy is the one who has been known to “church hop” prior to election time to try to increase his vote potential. Wake up residents of “Smellville” as The Honorable Judge “Soap Box Derby” put it something in your in your town (in your school district) “has a peculiar odor to it”. And "facts" are not always an absolute indicator of motivation or intent. I suggest "Clod's" appetence may be deceiving, I agree he looks like a checkers playing kinda guy, but that vote was no straight forward checkers move. It had all the earmarks of a sophisticated move to get the absolute most out of the situation. "

" To Taxpayer:
While your post shows great potential in the creative writing department (albeit a bit sophomoric), it does lack some in the facts area. According to a newspaper article I saw when this all was first revealed, Mr. Goodman did not vote to fire Ms. Butler; he voted against the action. He was the only one on the board to vote this way.
As for the rest of the story, for Wade Hudgens to have used official email to influence some voters (all employees of the district), I find this appalling to say the least. Maybe there are no laws against this when a candidate is not involved. If not, there should be. To use one's taxpayer-funded position to try and influence an election referendum seems completely wrong and unethical. Maybe if he wouldn't spend so much of the district's money, Wade wouldn't have to resort to such tactics. "

" As a teacher, it is common knowledge that when non-tenured a district really doesn't have to have a reason to get rid of you. Five evaluations of "satisfactory" is nothing to brag about, as a matter of fact that is not very good. What teacher with any sense was against this tax increase? Perhaps now our schools will actually pay for things we need instead of us doing it ourselves. I would think that so many "satisfactory" evaulations is just cause in getting rid of someone. "

" Nice to see that "Wide Fudgens", and his side kick "Clod Godman" are up to there old tricks and adding a new chapter to their legacy for our entertainment. With a little help from there attorney friend "Happy Trails" they should be up to costing the district another half million if we are lucky enough to see this go all the way to court! No worries mates, it won;t cost the districy much, insurance will kick in at some point, and who cares about those future preminums, say nothing of our self-respect! For "Wide and Clod" its all about pride, and not backing down, its all about being able to tell others what to do, no matter the consequences. So the saga of "Wide Fudgens" and his sidekick "Clod Godman" will continue until enough of Marion gets smart enough to turn out and vote, or the Baptists don't vote! Which, good reader, do you think is most likely in Marion? Hee Hee ah Haw Haw! Keep this great entertainment comming! "

" Gotway, I'm so happy that you are so entertained by something as serious as children who need a safe environment and the best teachers that can be hired. Instead of laughing at the hillbillies it would be great if you would stand up for something important for a change.Your indifference is a mark of shallowness that has no comparison. As for Mel,the same goes for you. "

" Justtt is right. Hudgens did the county a favor by helping to get the sales tax passed because now EVERYONE who shops in Williamson county helps pay the tax. Those who are so quick to point the finger at him need to remember that Hudgens kept his word and made sure that the other tax, a property tax, was rescinded once the sales tax went through. This assures that everyone, even residents of other counties, who buys anything in Marion, helps pay. As it was, only those who owned property got the extra tax. It is a LOT more fair this way. "

" When are people going to let the school board and Dr. Hudgens do thier job without all of these frivolous lawsuits?
After all,Dr. Hudgens has over thirty yrs. in education and has done nothing but try to improve the district. So far he has accomplished more than has been done in the preceeding years. Please consider the welfare of our children instead of selfish lawsuits that take money away from the district by having to pay lawyers instead of helping our kids. "

Ron Osman owns P&S Grain, which is suing the county over the sales tax, which Mayor Butler opposed and cannot now implement his own tax. Something is fishy in this little burg and it is time for the people to know.
The cycle never ends. "
