BY JOHN HOMAN, The Southern

MARION — A Marion clinic has been recognized for its success in expanding access to health care for local residents and improving the well being of the community.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Hands of Hope family Clinic to continue its efforts.

Hands of Hope is a free clinic that serves working low-income residents of Williamson, Franklin and Johnson counties. Volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses, social workers, dietitians and other health care professionals donate their time at the clinic, which operates strictly on donations and grants.

The clinic is located at 809 W. Prairie St. in Marion and is open to patients by appointment. For more information, call the office at 998-8282.
