MURPHYSBORO -- The trial of a Marion man accused of murdering Willie Carlando Carr has been continued.

Jury selection and the trial of Sherman LaRue Allen were expected to begin today in the Jackson County courthouse but, instead, Judge Ronald Eckiss ordered the case continued.

Allen is accused of shooting Carr on April 2 outside a birthday party near the 500 block of Robert A. Stalls Avenue in Carbondale. When police arrived on the scene shortly after 10 p.m. they found Carr lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head.
