Several arrested after fight near Carbondale
BY TARA FASOL, The Southern

CARBONDALE -- Jackson County Sheriff’s Department arrested several individuals following a fight about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, officials report.

The department responded to a call of several people fighting at an address just west of Carbondale on Old Highway 13.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Jonathan B. Villenaire, 23, of Connecticut and John A. Bradley, 24, had earlier been the recipients of a police escort for the retrieval of their property from a residence located at #40 Crockett Road where they had just recently been “ejected,” according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

After deputies left the area, Jeremy S. Mintz, 31, of Carbondale; Casey T. Nagy, 21, of Columbia, Mo.; Tasha R. Trantham, 17, of Colorado Springs, Co., and David M. Williams, 45, drove down Old Highway 13 until they located the victims walking.

Mintz, Nagy, Trantham, and Williams allegedly battered the victims in retaliation for involving police in the property retrieval.

A backpack with $300 worth of property inside was also stolen, as well as a dog. The victims were able to positively identify their attackers.

Upon arrival at the residence where the attackers allegedly fled, deputies were refused entry. Entry was made into the home and all four suspects were taken into custody on charges of aggravated battery, mob action, and robbery.

They were then taken to the Jackson County Jail and are awaiting appearances before a judge. The investigation into the incident continues.
