Voter registration deadline in Perry County approaches
BY THE SOUTHERN
Friday, September 26, 2008 10:52 AM CDT
PERRY COUNTY -- Perry County residents have until Oct. 7 to vote in November’s elections.

Anyone who has moved or changed their name since the last election should update their information quickly, Perry County Clerk Kevin Kern said in a news release.

First time voters can register at Kern’s office in the county government building in Pinckneyville, the Du Quoin City Clerk’s office or with precinct committeemen and deputy registrars in the county.

Kern said this may be the highest voter turnout Perry County has seen in 16 years.

Tamaroa voters will decide on implementing a local sales tax increase, and residents of the Pinckneyville Community Hospital District will vote on a non-binding advisory question about the hospital’s Skilled Care Unit.
